Your Mind Hears What You Say

Be careful what you say, your mind is listening, and your mind always believes you.   Like a child, the subconscious mind gets  the literal meaning of what we say and think.  And it tries to turn those words into reality.  So be careful how you use those metaphors.

Imagine what can happen to the body when your mind hears you say “I’m itching to travel.”  I know someone who used to say it all the time.  She developed a severe rash that caused terrible itching.  OK, this is not a controlled study,  but it is a true story, and I wonder if you have some of your own.

Think about the following ways to talk about love.  Some families might use positive metaphors and others might use negative ones.  Yes it’s all in fun, but where is a peaceful and content love likely to take root?  In which house will the children grow up with a positive and happy concept of a loving family?  Here are some love metaphors that I found.

  • Love is an opponent
  • Love is a captive animal
  • Love is war
  • Love is a battlefield
  • Love is physical force
  • Love is an economic exchange

  • Love is a fluid in a container
  • Love is a journey
  • Love is a natural force
  • Love is an experiment
  • Love is an adventure
  • Love is a lemon – either bitter or sweet
  • Love is a nutrient
  • Love is a garden
  • Love is the air
  • Love is beautiful
  • Love is sunrise
  • Love is warmth
  • Love is a treasure
  • Love is a fragile flower opening to the warmth of spring
